Hi everyone. On Friday, Miss Pollock brought 18 students to a conference (including me) called "Make It Happen". It was a real eye opener. We learnt how to fun raise for our community, school and other places in the world. I've chosen to fun raise for World Vision. On the weekend I was With my family for our Christmas Reunion. around dinner, I decided to pull out the world vision catalogue. i told them about the field trip what i was doing it for and what i wanted to do. at the end of the night i got $ 350.00!!!
I'm planing on restoring 2 child solders because my cousin is currently in Afghanistan. Along with that i will most likely be getting clothes for a whole village!!! I hope You will follow in my foot steps and help a child in need.

Slam Poets
Yesterday was our first session with the slam poets. It was soo much fun. Greg and Beth were fantastic characters that will teach us how to use poetry in a way that you can't describe, but only by poems. Miss Pollock, asked us to write a 3,2,1.
3.
things that you are looking forward to learning, developing or using in your poetry over the course of our Slam workshops.
- hope to learn how to make it sound more like a poem. Putting a rhythm into my poetry.
- I'm looking forward to hearing more and more, poems from Greg and Beth.
- I hope to develop more meaning full poems, topics that are more real.
2. things that Greg or Beth Anne reinforced that we have already been doing in class, or you are already using in class.
- They taught me/ showed me that alot of the things you write about are real.
-every piece of writing is a poem.
1. write and memorize your poem.
- Gangster. ..... thanks Mateen. HA HA

Letters to Loved Ones Back Home
My dear love Jenna,
My dear, I'm missing you terribly. I miss your tremendous loving hugs that embrace me everyday. The only thing that is embracing me, is the mud and the smoke from the cigarettes in the trenches. I've gotten trench foot far to many times to count. At times I wish I never singed for this horrifying job. but who's going to pay the bills. Being a journalist is horrible. I thought i would just have to write, but no. I have to carry around a gun! A gun that resembles why I'm here. We have been taking buckets to the trenches to get at least some of the cold water out of the deep trenches. Alas nothing works. Every time we dunk the bucket into the trench and toss it up the sides, two times the bucket of water comes back in. Hows mother? And father? what about my loving siblings?
Has Jounior been askign about me? I dont want him to worry. I just want to let him know that I'm so proud of him for being so brave for me, you too my love.
well the genral is asking me to write another entry for our log. I most be going. I miss you tremendously.
Your love ,
William Turner.

History 3,2,1.
on Friday we went on a field trip to the museum of civilization and Miss Pollock asked us to do a 3,2,1.
3. Specific things you enjoyed overall.
- I liked how the actors really made it seem real.
-And how at the end they took time to let us look around.
- Especially how they pick on some of the people in our class. (Mateen)
2.Important things you learned.
- I learnt that many men died just by drowning.
-I also learnt that alot of first people that lived in the Artic had to survive manly on whales.
1. Thing that you would've changed.
- I would've changed how the afternoon went. I wish they made it more exciting and make us really excited to learn.
Also wanted to say thanks to Miss Pollock for booking the field trip.

Island Man
Island Man (for a Caribbean island man in London who still wakes up to the sound of the sea)
by Grace Nichols
.
Morning
and island man wakes up
to the sound of blue surf
in his head
the steady breaking and wombing
wild seabirds
and fishermen pushing out to sea
the sun surfacing defiantly
from the east
of his small emerald island
.
He always comes back
groggily groggily
comes back to sands
of a grey metallic soar
to a surge of wheels
to dull North Circular roar
muffling muffling
his crumpled pillow waves
island man heaves himself
another London day
Where do you want to wake up?
I would want to wake up in Soctland. My Dad is from scotland but hes never been. He says it's beautiful, I always thought of the open fields filled with sheep and hay bills. But when i think of scotland i think of hagus and kilts. When I turn 30 i hope to there with a few friends and fanily.

Khaleefa's Preformance
4. Specific things you enjoyed about Khaleefa's presentation.
- I like how he had a rhythm to his poetry it made it really intersting to listen to.
-I also liked how he wrote about things that were true.
-Another thing i enjoyed about Khaleefa's performance is that he made sure he was comfortable with us.
3.Things that Khaleefa's did or spoke about that you can use to help inspire and develop your own poetry.
- He told us that all of his poems came from the heart.
-He also said he took time off of school to follow his dream and that made for more time to write more poetry that came from everyday things.
- And reading about stories and fictional characters can he too.
2. Questions you have for Khaleefa.
- Did you ever think of doing a Riannah and Eminem kind of thing to your own rap?
- Who is your favourite poet?
1. A sentence summary of why Khaleefa is a good role model.
- Khaleefa is a good role model because he is following his dream in becoming a poet and is telling us to never give up in our dreams.

Gingerness
Hi everyone! Jumanh left me a very important comment about me. she told me I forgot to tell everyone about my hair( hens the title). I have red hair that everyone mistakes as orange hair. Although they call me ginger only because I have blond and brown mixed with red. So thank you Jumanh for commenting about that. Thanks Jumanh you rock girlie!!!

I can't believe Eric Walters is coming to our school. I always dreamed of meeting an author that I love and finally I get to live the dream. I would like to thank Miss.Pollock for getting him to come and I would also like to thank Mr.Glossop for introducing his book to me (Safe as Houses). Now i am reading Branded and then wounded. I hope to read all of his books. Again Thank you so much Miss Pollock. Oh and of course Eric Walters for taking the time off to come and visit our class. I'm speechless now.

empathy!
EMPATHY
Empathy is when you know how someone feels, an example is when you see someone is being ignored or bullied and you have felt that way to you feel empathy for them. Empathy is a feeling, you feel pity for them or you know what they are going through or anything that makes you feel that same way you do.
